Eid-ul-Adha: Bawumia, Samira Extend Warmest Wishes To Muslims
The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and his wife, Samira Bawumia, have extended their wishes to all Muslims on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.
In a statement, the Vice President said, “Hajia Samira Bawumia and I extend our warmest wishes to fellow Muslims on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.”
He added, “…Let us be inspired by the act of selflessness and care for each other.”
Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is one of the most significant festivals celebrated by Muslims worldwide.
It commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God.
According to Islamic tradition, as Ibrahim prepared to sacrifice, God intervened and provided a ram as a substitute.
The festival is observed on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the final month of the Islamic lunar calendar, following the completion of Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca.
It is a time of joy, gratitude, and reflection for Muslims.
The festival is usually opened with special prayers before the slaughtering of goats, sheep or cows, among others.
