The Western Regional Police Command has arrested two men after a disturbing video involving two teenagers in Effiakuma surfaced online and sparked public concern.
In a statement released on Friday, February 27, 2026, the Ghana Police Service identified the suspects as Edward Azalekor, 52, an assemblyman for the Effiakuma West Electoral Area, and Martin Amuzu, 35, an uncle to the 17 year old female involved.
The arrests were carried out on Thursday, February 26, after the video was forwarded to police by a presenter at Connect FM.
The footage, which has since circulated widely on social media, allegedly shows a 13-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl being forced into sexual activity inside a shop while others looked on and recorded the incident.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the girl left home on February 16 without informing her mother and returned later that evening.
Police say her mother contacted the assemblyman to discipline her. The suspects allegedly lured the teenage boy to the location and compelled him to take part in the act.
The two accused persons were arraigned before the Harbour District Court in Takoradi on Friday and granted bail of GHC 20,000 each. They are expected to reappear on March 5, 2026.
The female victim is currently in the custody of the Department of Social Welfare. Police are pursuing another suspect, Isaac Nana Osei, who allegedly filmed the incident and remains at large.
