The Board Chair of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Keli Gadzekpo, has tendered his resignation, effective April 9.
In his resignation letter to President Akufo-Addo, Mr. Gadzekpo cited personal reasons for his decision.
The board chair further wished ECG and the government continued success in the effort to provide stable electricity for the country.
His resignation, however, comes at a time when Ghana’s energy sector is facing a crisis, with the Electricity Company of Ghana being criticized for not consistently keeping the power on.
Appointed to the board in 2017 by then Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko, Mr Gadzekpo was tasked with a strategic role in ensuring energy sufficiency.
He thanked the President for the opportunity to serve the country in this significant capacity for the past seven years.
Meanwhile, President Nana Akufo-Addo has appointed Deputy Energy Minister Herbert Krapa as the new Board Chair of ECG.
Herbert Krapa is expected to lead the ECG Board in dealing with recent power outages in the country.
