ECG attributes power outages in Eastern Region to GRIDCo’s technical challenge

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has clarified the situation that led to the disruption in power supply to some communities in the Eastern Region.

A statement from ECG explained that the recent power cuts in Koforidua and its environs are due to technical challenges at the Ghana Grid Company Ltd (GRIDCo).

The power distributor assured the public that power would soon be restored to the affected areas.

The statement, however, fell short of providing a specific time for the restoration.

The statement also expressed deep regret for any inconvenience caused by the outage.

Below is a statement from ECG.

There have been so many outages in Koforidua that it is now getting ridiculous. Where we live every day the power goes at about 7 in the evening and then is out all night returning at about dawn. Yesterday the power went at 7 and has still not been restored. It is ok but I pay for my power up front and am treated in this way. My wife and I, she is in the UK, have barely been able to speak since the beginning of dumsor because of all the power cuts and I am barely able to charge my phone!! which is our lifeline. It is an absolute disgrace.
