EC to reprint Volta and Ahafo ballot papers to address serial number errors
The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced the reprinting of all ballot papers distributed to the Volta and Ahafo Regions due to errors in their serial numbers.
The decision, taken during an emergency Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on Friday, November 15, 2024, affects both presidential and parliamentary ballots for these regions.
“Our audit revealed that the Printing House that was printing the ballots for Ahafo and Volta, had encountered a number of challenges. While the printing of the ballots had gone on seamlessly, the serialisation which was supposed to be done through an automated system to provide serial numbers based on a sequence, had gaps,” EC Deputy Chairman of Operations, Samuel Tettey, explained.
“Upon further assessment, the Commission decided that the manual system was not fool-proof and could therefore not be relied upon to produce an accurate serialisation of the ballots. In the light of the above, the Commission took the decision to reprint the ballot papers”.
Meanwhile, the EC has assured all stakeholders of its commitment to ensuring a transparent and credible electoral process as preparations for the 2024 general election.
