EC to reprint Volta and Ahafo ballot papers over serial number errors
The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced the reprinting of all ballot papers distributed to the Volta and Ahafo Regions due to errors in their serial numbers.
The decision, taken during an emergency Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on Friday, November 15, 2024, affects both presidential and parliamentary ballots for these regions.
Samuel Tettey, the EC’s Deputy Chairman of Operations, explained that the serialisation errors threatened the integrity of the ballots.
“Concerns have been raised regarding the serialisation of ballot papers for the Ahafo and Volta Regions over the last few weeks. While the printing process has been largely successful, these serialisation issues have required urgent attention,” he stated during the meeting.
“The commission has taken a decision to recall the Ballot Papers for Ahafo and the Volta regions. The Commission has decided that the two ballots will now be printed by Bulk and Acts Commercials for presidential and parliamentary,” Mr Tettey added.
Meanwhile, the EC has assured all stakeholders of its commitment to ensuring a transparent and credible electoral process as preparations for the 2024 general election.
