The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced plans for regular media briefings on Election Day, December 7, 2024, to update the public about the progress of the polls.
The briefings aim to ensure transparency throughout the electoral process.
In a statement issued on Thursday, December 5, the Deputy EC Chairman in charge of operations, Samuel Tettey, urged the media and the general public to verify any election-related reports to avoid spreading false information.
The first media briefing is scheduled for 9:00 am on December 7, 2024, with subsequent briefings at 12:00 noon, 3:00 pm, and 6:00 pm.
The EC will provide additional briefings from 9:00 pm onwards as results are received from various regions. Each session will last no more than 30 minutes.
In view of that, the EC has invited media personnel with accreditation cards for the National Collation Centre to cover these briefings.
“The Electoral Commission remains committed to delivering fair, transparent, credible, and peaceful elections,” the statement added.
