EC schedules Oct 7 for exhibition of one-day registration roll
The Electoral Commission (EC) is expected to display the register for participants of its one-day voter registration extension on Wednesday, October 7, 2020.
The exercise will take place at the district offices of the EC from 7am to 6pm on the designated day.
Participants have been advised by the EC to visit the district offices where they registered to check their names and prompt officials to effect any anomalies.
The exercise to help voters verify their details in order to vote in the upcoming 2020 presidential and parliamentary polls.
It likely that participants in this category would be able to vote if the process are completed in time.
Electoral guidelines in Ghana stipulates that a person may vote provided their name is in the certified register at least 60 days before the election.
EC To Conduct Special Voting On December 1
Meanwhile, this year’s special voting is slated for Tuesday, December 1, ahead of the main election on December 7.
Special Voting refers to Voters who as a result of their duties on Election Day are unable to vote at the Polling Stations where they registered on the day of the election.
The category of people eligible to vote during the special voting period are:
- Security Personnel
- Media Personnel who will work outside their jurisdiction on Election Day
- Election Officials
