The High Court in Accra has granted bail to the founder of Alive Chapel International Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako, and his wife Mouha Amoako, following their arrest over the fatal accident at East Legon which claimed two lives.
The two are the parents of the 16-year-old driver, who rammed into another car at top speed, leading to multiple deaths.
They were charged with permitting an unlicensed person to drive.
On Wednesday, October 16, the prosecution told the court that the parents admitted to allowing their son to drive their vehicle to the gym and other locations.
The prosecution also revealed in court that Linda Bempah, a sales assistant, gave the suspect the keys to Mouha Amoako’s Jaguar car, further complicating the case.
However, lawyers of the accused persons requested bail, arguing that the accused posed no risk of reoffending or interfering with ongoing investigations.
They also emphasised their stable living situations, gainful employment, and strong ties to the community.
Taking all sides of the argument into consideration, the judge granted the ¢50,000 bail for each of the accused with two sureties.
The Acura had five occupants.
Both cars caught fire following the crash and burned beyond recognition.
