An earth tremor hit several parts of Accra on Sunday morning around 7:30 am.
The tremor sent panic among residents who ran for cover.
Some of the areas affected are Gbawe, Nsakina, Obeyeyie, Kasoa Nyanyano, Sowutuom, Sarpeiman, Kanda, Awoshie and La.
Confirming the tremor, the Ghana Geological Survey Authority(GSSA) said their team is yet to determine the magnitude.
“Our team of seismologists is actively gathering data to determine the epicentre, magnitude and other factors of this event,” GSSA said.
This is part of many such occurrences in the past year.
On March 10, this year, the Central Business District of Accra also experienced a minor earth tremor, which the Ghana Geological Survey Authority put the magnitude at 2.8 on the Richter scale.
Similarly, on December 12, 2022, parts of Accra also experienced tremors which occurred three times in a space of about five hours.
The first was experienced around 6:53 am, also in the western part of Accra, the second around 10 am at the same places and the third occurred at 11:53 am, 10 km from Gbawe.
