E/R: 4 injured as ambulance somersaults at Afosu
Four persons sustained injuries after a vehicle belonging to the National Ambulance Service from Nkawkaw on Saturday, October 11, 2025, was involved in an accident at Afosu, located in the Birim North Municipality of the Eastern Region.
According to the New Abirem Municipal Fire Station, a distress call was received around 2:30 p.m., which led to the deployment of a seven-member rescue team under the leadership of LFM Tenkorang Ofori Prince.

Initial investigations indicated that the ambulance, with the registration number GV-567-20, experienced a brake failure and subsequently overturned several times before coming to rest on its side.
All four individuals aboard the vehicle were successfully rescued and transported to the New Abirem Government Hospital for medical attention.
Firefighters also worked to remove blood stains from the roadway and retrieved essential medical equipment, which included a ventilator, cardiac monitor, fire extinguisher, chest compression device, stethoscope, and telephone.

Officers from the Ghana Police Service were present at the scene to regulate traffic and assist with the initial inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
