Dutch Kale and Sausages

The Dutch are devotees of this typical country dish called stamppot, a name that derives from the thorough mixing together of the ingredients.

Recipe

2 packages (10 ounces each) frozen kale

4 cups warm mashed potatoes.

2 tablespoons finely chopped onion.

1 quarter cup butter.

1 eighth teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg.

Salt, pepper to taste.

16 cooked beef sausages such as mettwurst

The Cooking

Cook the Kale in a little salted water until tender. Drain and chop finely. Mix with the warm potatoes, onion, butter, nutmeg, salt, and pepper and beat until smooth. Spoon into a mound and place the cooked sausages over it.
