A misunderstanding at a drinking bar in Kronum near Kumasi has turned violent after a driver’s mate allegedly stabbed his colleague in the neck during a heated confrontation over claims of skin bleaching.
The suspect, identified as Mallachy, is accused of attacking Gabriel Arhin, also a driver’s mate, after the two engaged in a verbal exchange that quickly spiralled out of control.
According to information gathered from the area, the incident occurred while both men were drinking with friends when Arhin allegedly accused Mallachy of bleaching his skin.
Witnesses say the accusation angered Mallachy and led to a fierce argument that soon attracted the attention of other patrons.
Despite attempts by some people at the bar to calm the situation, the quarrel reportedly escalated into a physical fight.
In the course of the scuffle, Mallachy is said to have grabbed a bottle, smashed it and stabbed Arhin in the neck.
The injured man reportedly bled profusely, prompting those present to rush him to a nearby health facility for urgent medical attention.
He is currently receiving treatment, while his condition is yet to be officially confirmed by medical authorities.
