A quick-thinking driver is being praised after disrupting a robbery attempt on a mobile money vendor at Darkuman in Accra, following a dramatic incident that left one suspected robber injured and another on the run.
The incident occurred when two armed men attacked a mobile money vendor and made away with GH¢7,700.
As they attempted to flee the scene, a driver who witnessed the robbery reportedly rammed his vehicle into the suspects, knocking them down and preventing their escape.
One of the suspected robbers managed to escape despite the intervention.
His accomplice, however, was left behind and reportedly faced the anger of nearby residents who rushed to the scene moments after the incident.
The injured suspect was later restrained as calls were made for police intervention.
Eyewitnesses say the driver’s action likely prevented the suspects from successfully fleeing with the stolen money and may have saved the vendor from further harm.
The mobile money vendor, who was visibly shaken, is said to be safe and cooperating with authorities.
Police are expected to investigate the attempted robbery and the circumstances surrounding the driver’s intervention.
