Driver and mate hospitalised after accident at Bunso
A DAF XF long vehicle with registration number GW-5959-23, carrying drinks and food items from Togo to Kumasi has crashed, leaving the driver and mate injured.
The devastating accident occurred at Bunso in the Eastern Region on Friday, October 11, 2024.
Information gathered indicates that the driver dozed off near the CSIR curve, losing control of the steering wheel.
Consequently, the truck veered off the road, landing on its side and pulling down a high-tension pole belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
The pole collapsed, causing a total power outage in the area.
Emergency services, including ambulance, the Ghana National Fire Service, and the Ghana Police Service, swiftly responded to rescue the trapped occupants.
The injured driver and mate were rushed to the Tafo Government Hospital where they are receiving treatment.
ECG engineers from Begoro have reportedly assessed the damage to the high-tension pole and working to restore power.
