Flagbearer hopeful Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku was unable to secure any votes in the just-ended New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) special delegates congress.
Dr Apraku was seeking to be one of the five flagbearer aspirants to make the cut for the November 4 Presidential Primaries.
However, despite his efforts, the nationwide voting by 961 delegates on August 26 yielded no votes in his favor.
The super delegates congress saw Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia emerge as the clear victor with an impressive total of 629 votes, constituting 68.15% of the overall votes cast.
Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong secured the second position with 15.12% of the votes, while Alan Kyerematen claimed the third spot with 10.88% of the cast votes.
Former Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, was in fourth place with 4.12%.
Francis Addai-Nimoh and Boakye Agyarko, both secured the fifth spot. As a result, the NPP will hold a run-off on Saturday, September 2, to determine the fate of the two presidential hopefuls.
