Renowned Ghanaian musician Ohemaa Mercy has advised women against hate and resentment after going through a divorce.
She made this statement while addressing the aftermath of the divorce from her husband.
According to her, when couples divorce after having children, they should remember that there is a covenant between them and must make a commitment to ensure the children live peacefully.
“I want to advise everyone. If you’re a woman and you’re going through a divorce, your partner is not your enemy. Because of the kids, you have a covenant. So I have to allow God to lead me through this so that it will be another phase for every woman to emulate.
“If you are going through battles in your marriage and it comes to a point that you are going to divorce, understand that you can never be enemies. You have to help each other because of the kids,” she said in an interview on TV3.
Despite a divorce, Ohemaa Mercy and her ex-husband have remained friends and support each other.
On September 7, 2023, Isaac Twum-Ampofo, popularly known as Ike, the former husband of Ohemaa Mercy, took to his Facebook page to wish his ex-wife a happy birthday.
His reaction evoked excitement from netizens.
In his post, Mr Twum-Ampofo prayed for blessings and favour of God over the life of the mother of his children.
He wrote: “Happy Birthday @ohemaamercyofficial . On Your Special Day I Ask For Blessings And Favour Of God Like Never Before On Your Life. Be Blessed 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾”.
