A 25-year-old mother of triplets, Gloria Teye, has suffered a devastating loss with the death of one of her newborn triplets.

Information gathered indicates that the family’s financial struggles and the absence of the children’s father, Samuel Boateng, to support them have compounded the tragedy.

“We were just informed that one of the triplets has passed away. We’re not sure what went wrong, but it might be due to our inability to purchase the prescribed drugs on time. Sometimes, I have to beg others for money to cover the cost of the medications,” said Evelyn Dede Tetteh, Gloria’s sister.

Gloria shared her distress, explaining, “My husband left after the nurse told him I had given birth to triplets. We tried calling him several times, but he didn’t answer.”

The couple already has four children, including a set of twins.

Gloria expressed regret about having more children, citing financial strains and her husband’s dissatisfaction.

“He said things were tough during my pregnancy, and even our existing four children are a burden to him. His barbershop in Nkurakan is struggling due to high electricity bills and low customer turnout,” Gloria said.

In light of these challenges, Gloria is calling for public assistance to cover her hospital bills and support her remaining children.

“We urgently need financial help to pay my hospital bills. We are appealing to Ghanaians for support,” she said.

Hospital authorities have highlighted an increasing number of mothers unable to leave facilities due to unpaid medical bills, emphasizing the need for better support systems for vulnerable families.
