Coach Didi Dramani has invited 54 players to participate in a screening exercise for the Black Galaxies CHAN qualifier.
The exercise is to help the technical team assemble a strong squad for the upcoming Championship of African Nations (CHAN) tournament.
The technical team has identified players from Ghana’s recent U23 and U20 squads and standout performers from the domestic leagues who have been allowed to showcase their skills.
The players have been divided into two batches of 27 each and will undergo screening at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
The first group of players will report from September 30 to October 2, with the second group scheduled from October 7 to 9.
As the new head coach of the Black Galaxies, Didi Dramani brings a wealth of experience, having previously led Ghana to win Bronze at the 2012 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Azerbaijan and securing a domestic double with Asante Kotoko in 2014. Baba Nuhu and Samuel Boadu will assist him.
Ghana seeks to improve on its quarterfinal exit in the last CHAN edition in Algeria, and Coach Dramani’s expertise will be crucial in guiding the team to success.
Players who impress during the screening will form the core of the Black Galaxies squad for the upcoming qualifiers and international competitions.
The tournament will be played between 01- 28 February 2025 with Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania co-hosting.
The qualification slots for the tournament have been allocated as follows:
- Zones WAFU A, WAFU B [which Ghana belongs to], UNAF, UNIFFAC, and COSAFA will each have three qualifying teams.
- The CECAFA zone, which includes the three host countries, will receive an additional slot due to their automatic qualification as hosts.
- As a result, the total number of teams qualifying for the final tournament will be increased to 19 teams.
