Detailed account of how robbers attacked Deputy Education Minister
The Deputy Education Minister, Dr Osei Adutwum, has been attacked by robbers on the Bolga-Kumasi highway.
According to the Police, the robbers, numbering about seven, shot into the vehicle of the minister around Sarikyikura.
The incident happened around 5:30pm on July 22.
A police highway patrol team was called in following the attack but the suspects managed to escape into the bushes before the personnel of the Ghana Police Service could arrive at the scene.
“Five persons sustained gunshot wounds and are receiving treatment at the Tamale Teaching hospital. The robbers also shot into the vehicle of the Deputy Minister for Education, Hon. Dr. Osei Adutum who was traveling from Bolga to Kumasi,” extracts of a police statement read.
The Northern region police command has mounted a search for the 7-member robbery gang.
“Police in the region is conducting serious investigation into the incident and therefore calling on the public to assist with the information that can lead to the arrest of the perpetrators. Whoever has any information that could lead to the identification or arrest of the suspects should contact the police for necessary action. Victims of the attack are currently receiving treatment at the Tamale Teaching hospital.
