Desist from airing money rituals, fake lotteries, porn – NMC warns 15 TV stations
The National Media Commission (NMC) has warned 15 television stations to stop broadcasting inappropriate content.
According to a statement by the NMC, members of the public reported these stations for airing money-doubling shows, money rituals, fake lotteries, occultic practices, and pornography.
These programs are deemed to be contrary to the standards of media ethics, Ghanaian culture, traditions, and norms.
“For the stations listed above, we hereby serve them notice to cease and desist from those activities otherwise there will be severe consequences,” NMC warned.
The 15 TV stations are Asomafo TV, Adwenpa TV, Eagle TV, Best TV, Energy TV, Diamond TV, X TV, Asomdwie TV, Funny TV, Advice TV, Big TV, Passion TV, Nkabom TV, Seekers TV, and Elephant TV.
The statement also added that the commission will soon announce its decision on a matter involving Onua TV/Radio.
The commission asked the station to apologize to the Ghanaian public for the use of vulgar language and present evidence of the same before November 19, 2023.
Meanwhile, another issue that involved Power FM has been resolved, according to the statement signed by the Executive Secretary of the NMC, George Sarpong.
The NMC accused Power FM of allowing its medium to be used to ”denigrate” the Second Lady, Mrs Samira Bawumia, and the Fulani Community in Ghana calling the program in question one that only incites tension.
