Deputy Minister For Lands And Natural Resources Denies Partaking In Illegal Mining
The Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources who is also the Member of Parliament for Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency, Hon. George Mireku Duker, has urged the public to disregard any information suggesting he is into illegal mining.
According to him, the Chief of Dompim-Pepesa in the Tarkwa Municipality, Nana Nyowah Panyin IV made this allegation on Monday, October, 10, on Joy FM Super Morning Show claiming that “Mr. Duker, the MCE, Benjamin Kesse together with the Western Regional Minister are behind ‘galamsey’ activities in the area”
Till now, the Municipal Chief Executive and the Western Regional Minister have not come out to say anything concerning the allegation made by the Chief but according to the MP, the claims by Nana Nyowah Panyin IV are false.
“I will not lose focus, I will concentrate on my job as the deputy Minister responsible for mining. I know it is also an effort just to derail me, it is a strategy that, galamseyers when they see that you are coming after them, they create a situation where you will lose focus so that they will have their field day. But, we will not relent, we will push forward to ensure that the right things are done.”
