Dep. Health Minister-designate shows readiness to take charge of funerals and mortuaries

The Deputy Health Minister-designate, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has expressed his willingness to oversee the Mortuaries and Funeral Facilities Agency (MoFFA) when he is approved.

During his vetting by Parliament’s Appointment Committee on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, Mr. Acquah appealed to the Health Minister to assign him the responsibility of managing the Mortuaries and Funeral Facilities Agency due to his knowledge in that field.

Mr. Acquah, responding to a question from the Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, regarding his interest in managing MoFFA gladly stated, “I will gladly take up that responsibility.”

He added “Mr Chair, the Ministry is a very vast one, and as I know, it has always had two deputy ministers, so the various agencies are given to the deputy ministers. Of all that my minister will let me handle, I am making a plea that he gives me the opportunity to handle the mortuaries”.

Mr. Acquah’s interest in managing the Mortuaries and Funeral Facilities Agency (MoFFA) under the Health Ministry stems from his many years of experience in managing similar facilities.

As the Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of Community Hospital Group, Mr. Acquah has established many quality healthcare and modern mortuaries to enable family members to preserve their bodies well enough before preparing a befitting burial for them across many regions in the country.
