Decomposing body of a man found at Afrangua
The decomposing body of a man believed to be in his 40s has been found in a sack dumped in front of the Roman Catholic Church at Afrangua in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region.
The body was found on Monday morning, April 22, 2024.
Although residents said they saw the sack in front of the Roman Catholic Church, they never thought it contained human remains until a bad odour filled the area.
Some of the residents who visited the scene opened the sack, only to see the lifeless body of the deceased in a decomposing state.
Meanwhile, police from Saltpond and the Mfantseman Environmental Health Officer have deposited the body at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital Mortuary for autopsy and preservation.
Police have commenced investigations into the incident.
Cases of dumped bodies have become regular in recent times.
The victim, identified as Kweku Kakra, popularly known in the community as ‘Kweku Opa’, was found with multiple bullet and cutlass wounds on his body.
According to residents, they woke up only to see the lifeless body of the deceased at the roadside.
Residents were uncertain about the details surrounding the occurrence, but some suggested that the deceased might have been a thief who was lynched and then dumped in their area.
The deceased, believed to be in his mid-40s, was found in a bush.
The body was reportedly found around 2:05 p.m. in a rotten state, so it was impossible to identify the deceased person.
What led to the unfortunate demise of the deceased was not readily known, but the state in which the body was found suggested foul play.
The deceased was identified as Ama, a mentally ill person who had been a threat to the residents of Edumadze, a community within Mankessim.
Information gathered indicates that the deceased was also a mother of three.
