The decomposing body of a 45-year-old woman identified as Nana Obiri, has been found on a cocoa farm at Assin Dominase in the Assin South District of the Central Region.
The body of the deceased was found around 8:00 pm on Monday.
The deceased was a single mother of five and had been missing for two weeks after going snail hunting.
The bereaved family believes her struggles with alcoholism may have contributed to her tragic death.
The Assin Fosu Divisional Police Command has launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of death.
Also on June 13, 2024, the decomposed body of a fisherman who has been identified as Sofo was discovered after he drowned at Mumford in the Gomoa West District of the Central region.
According to reports, he was dragged into the sea when pulling a fishing net.
All attempts by his colleagues to rescue him proved futile, and his body went missing.
Fisherfolks who were thrown into a state of mourning mounted a search for Sofo.
A body in a decomposing state was found later and was identified to be him by the trousers he wore on the day of the incident.
Although residents said they saw the sack in front of the Roman Catholic Church, they never thought it contained human remains until a bad odour filled the area.
Some of the residents who visited the scene opened the sack, only to see the lifeless body of the deceased in a decomposing state.
