Daniel Amartey rejected seven offers this summer – Beşiktaş General Secretary
Beşiktaş SK General Secretary Kaan Şakul has revealed that Ghanaian defender Daniel Amartey rejected seven clubs during the summer transfer window.
The 29-year-old, who previously played for Leicester City, was the subject of interest from multiple teams, including Al-Shabab from Dubai.
Despite an agreement with Al-Shabab and a proposed contract that would have been more lucrative than his current deal, Amartey chose to remain with Beşiktaş, stating a preference for a transfer in January instead.
Şakul noted that while offers came in from clubs such as Al-Shabab Ahlul, FC Arouca, Eyüpspor, Al Orobah, Al Kholood, and Al Fahya, none were accepted.
“So far, 7 written offers have been received for Daniel Amartey. We have reached an agreement with Al-Shabab. The player would earn more than he would earn here. He said okay, we bought his plane ticket, but he gave up. We asked him why, he said, ‘I don’t want to play in Dubai.
” We last met with Eyüpspor, but the player did not accept this today either. Finally, we said let’s give him what he will get for 1 year. He said okay, but he just sent a message saying he gave up. He said he wants to go in January.”
Amartey’s contract with Beşiktaş expires in June 2026.
