Daddy Lumba lauds Stormzy’s gesture at Global Citizens festival
Ghanaian high-life legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, known as Daddy Lumba (DL), has lauded British-born Ghanaian rapper Michael Ebenezer Kwadjo Omari Owuo, popularly known as Stormzy, for paying homage to him at the Global Citizens event held at the Black Star Square in Accra last Saturday.
According to Daddy Lumba, he was grateful to be celebrated by a new school rap act on a global stage, adding that words could not express his love for Stormzy’s actions.
“I was immensely touched by Stormzy’s homage to me last night at the Global Citizen Festival. I would like to take this opportunity to share my gratitude and appreciation for the public display of love.
He also extended his appreciation to the public for their love display and described the whole feeling as humbling and heartwarming.
“To say that the gesture was heartwarming and humbling is an understatement. Thank you very much!” He posted on his Facebook platform.
Stormzy eulogized Daddy Lumba as he wore a shirt with Daddy Lumba’s image boldly printed on the front for his performance at the Global Citizen Festival held on Saturday in Accra.
This act by Stormzy caught the attention of Daddy Lumba, and he has taken to his social media pages to return the favour and show his appreciation.
The event saw the presence of local and international musicians like Usher, Tems, Stormzy, Stonebwoy, Gyakie, SZA, Sarkodie and many others.
The 20,000-capacity Black Star Square was home to the festival, which started with an opening speech by the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, who encouraged his citizens to stay on the path of patriotism and support causes that seek to sustain the future.
Usher Raymond , the show’s top performer, introduced Nigerian artistes Oxlade, Pheelz and Tiwa Savage on stage at different times.
