Source The Ghana Report

The Savannah Regional Police Command has granted bail to 49 suspects who were arrested in Daboya, located in the Savannah Region, following recent unrest in the town.

The clashes between the Mamprusis and Gonjas at Lukula, a farming community in the North Gonja District, resulted in an attack on the local police force.

During the violence, the suspects allegedly vandalized the windscreen of the Savannah Regional Police Commander’s vehicle and a newly acquired pickup truck belonging to the district command.

In response to the unrest, 107 individuals were initially arrested and held in police custody in Tamale.

The remaining suspects will be presented before the Tamale High Court on Monday, June 5, to face charges related to the unrest and their alleged involvement in the violent acts.

Meanwhile, several men in the town have fled and sought refuge in nearby bushes and distant communities. As a result, all commercial and domestic activities have come to a standstill in Daboya and its surrounding areas.

Reportedly, only women and a few female students returning to town on vacation were seen in the area.
