To control the level of chaos in Sampa Township, in Jaman North District of the Bono Region, the Minister for the Interior, Henry Quartey, by an Executive Instrument, has imposed a curfew in the area.

The curfew hours, which span from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am each day, effective Thursday, June 20, 2024, follow some chieftaincy disputes recorded in the town.

The directive was based on advice from the Bono Regional Security Council.

The government has called on chiefs, opinion leaders, youth and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them and to use non-violent means to channel their grievances into ensuring peace in the area.

Meanwhile, there is a total ban on all persons in Sampa Township in Jaman North District of the Bono Region from carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons.

“Any person found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted,” a statement from the Interior Ministry, dated June 20, 2024, added.
