CPP to elect flagbearer on September 4

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has set Wednesday 4th September to elect its flagbearer for the December 7 general election. This decision was reached at the party’s emergency National Executive Council meeting in Kumasi.

The main purpose of the emergency National Executive Council meeting of the Convention People’s Party, CPP in Kumasi was to agree on a date to elect the party’s flagbearer for the December 7 general election. Aside from this, members of the National Executive Council discussed issues affecting the progress of the party.

After extensive deliberations, the members settled on the 4th of next month to elect the flagbearer. The election of the Flagbearer will take place across all the regions of the country.

Two people have declared their intention to contest for the position. They are Lawyer Frimpong Yaw Anokye a private legal practitioner and Nana Akosua Frimpomaa Sarpong Kumankumah, the immediate past chairperson of the party.

Speaking at the meeting, the Secretary to the Congress Committee, Eben Agbenya Aszormahe further explained modalities for the election.

The immediate past chairperson of the CPP, Nana Akosua Frimpomaa Sarpong Kumankumah was hopeful of clinching the Flagbearer slot of the party.

On his part, Lawyer Frimpong Yaw Anokye, a Flagbearer hopeful believes that he is the marketable candidate that can win the hearts of Ghanaians to bring the CPP to power despite the few months left to the general election.

The party has admitted that it is far behind time in its campaigning activities, but it is hopeful to move into action as soon as the presidential primary is over.
