COVID-19: Ghana records biggest jump of 921 with cases totalling 4,012
Ghana has recorded the highest number of new COVID-19 infections bringing the tally to 4, 012, according to the Ghana Health Service (GHS).
The latest figure reported on the official COVID-19 website of the GHS represents a sharp rise of 921, approximately 30% of the previously reported number of 3,091.
The total number of recoveries has also increased to 323.
This is according to collated figures as of May 7, the GHS stated.
The GHS explained, “Over 50% of these cases were as a result of an outbreak in an industrial facility with 1,300 workers, of which 523 have been confirmed positive”.
Over the same period, 20 more recoveries have been reported.
Greater Accra alone accounted for 857 of the new cases, bringing the latest figures for the region to 3, 436.
A total of 13 regions have reported cases with the Savannah Region, Bono East Region and the Ahafo Region the only ones yet to record cases.
