Court remands two girls for killing 16-year-old boy
The Asokwa District Court has remanded two teenage girls into custody following their involvement in the murder of a 16-year-old boy at Anloga, in the Ashanti Region.
At the court today, the first female suspect was charged with murder and causing injury to the deceased, while the other female suspect was charged with abetment of murder.
Meanwhile, the case has been adjourned to November 20, 2024, for further proceedings.
The incident occurred on Monday, November 4, 2024, when an altercation led to the main suspect allegedly stabbing the victim, Dennis Owusu Ansah, a Junior High School (JHS) leaver.
The second suspect, a 15-year-old girl, is accused of abetting the murder.
Victor Owusu Ansah, the brother of the deceased, is hopeful in the justice system after the court denied the suspects’ request for bail.
A number of stabbing incidents involving teenagers have been recorded in different parts of the country in the past few months.
A final-year student at O’Reilly Senior High School in Accra was remanded for reportedly stabbing another student to death following an argument.
The victim, 18-year-old Edward Borketey Sackey, was a final-year Visual Arts student.
The incident happened on Monday, September 2, 2024, after they sat for an examination.
The altercation reportedly began as a heated exchange over who was wealthier, escalating into a physical fight.
