The Judicial Service has announced the suspension of sittings of the Court of Appeal in four regional capitals.
A notice signed by Chief Justice Anin Yeboah listed Tamale, Cape Coast, Ho, and Koforidua as the affected cities.
It further directed that all appeals from the Northern Sector of the country including the Upper East, Upper West, North East, Northern, Savannah, Bono East, Ahafo, Western North and Ashanti regions would be heard in Kumasi.
All appeals in the Southern sector including the Western, Central, Eastern, Oti, Volta, and Greater Accra Region will be heard in Accra.
“In view of this, all pending appeals in the Court of Appeal listed above are accordingly transferred to Kumasi and Accra respectively,” the service directed.
But the Minority Chief Whip Kwame Agbodza says the latest directive by the Chief Justice is wrong in every aspect.
He further asked Justice Anin Yeboah to provide a reason for the closure of Court of appeal sittings in four regions.
CLOSURE OF COURTS OF APPEAL IN FOUR REGIONS…
This is very wrong. We are building more courts, training more lawyers and judges to bring justice closer to our people. What is the reason for this? pic.twitter.com/gHGZTBKF3P— kwame agbodza (@KAgbodza) February 13, 2023
