Court adjourns Cecilia Dapaah’s stolen cash case over late arrival of lawyers

An Accra High Court was compelled to adjourn the case in which seven persons are standing trial over former Sanitation Minister, Cecilia Dapaah’s missing funds.

It will be recalled that seven persons including the house help of the former minister were hauled before the court for stealing $1 million,  €300,000, and other valuables from the residence of Madam Dapaah.

The accused persons are Patience Botwe (18, hairdresser), Sarah Agyei (30, unemployed), Benjamin Sowah (29, plumber), Malik Dauda (34, unemployed), Christiana Achab (trader), Job Pomary (mechanic), and Yahaya Sumaila (Excavator operator).

They are all facing 31 counts of conspiracy to steal, stealing, dishonestly receiving and money laundering.

They have denied the charges, and the court has admitted them to bail for a total sum of GHC5,250,000.

The next court date is March 8, 2024.

The adjournment follows the late arrival of the defense and accused lawyers for the case management conference.

Both the Defense and prosecution lawyers did not arrive in court until Justice Marie-Louise Simmons had adjourned the case.

Meanwhile, the accused persons who were earlier granted bail are still in lawful custody as their bail conditions have not been met.
