Coup plot: Police allegedly interdict Agordzo for wearing uniform to court
It has emerged that the police hierarchy has interdicted embattled officer standing trial for treason in the alleged coup plot ACP Dr Benjamin Agordzo.
ACP Agordzo has reportedly been interdicted for wearing uniform to the court.
According to police regulations, no officer is permitted to wear his or her uniform when facing charges in court.
The decision to interdict the senior officer was reportedly taken by the police hierarchy after his first court appearance where he wore the uniform with a UN cap.
But lawyer for ACP Agordzo says his client is yet to be officially informed about the decision.
Court appearance
ACP Agordzo arrived in court this afternoon amid heavy security presence.
The senior police officer was remanded into BNI custody on Wednesday after the Presiding Judge at the Kaneshie district court deferred the bail application to today, Friday.
The court premises has been surrounded with armed police men some of whom escorted him into the courtroom.
The embattled senior police officer, ACP Agordzor today did not show up at the court wearing police uniform.
Some family members of the officer thronged the court to solidarize with him.
He however maintains he is innocent of the charges leveled against him by the state.
