Self-acclaimed marriage counsellor, George Lutterodt, has replied critics who have been rejoicing following a banned by the Psychological Council, preventing him from  giving counsel on radio and television.

According to him, counselling is not the only job that brings him money. Mr. Lutterodt also works with the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital as a Radiologist.

“After this news of they banning me went out, I see a lot of people rejoicing; those people think Counselling is my only job and so I would go hungry, they should go and ask about me very well. I work at Korle Bu Hospital, they should go and ask about my position over there. All that’s happening I see it as vindictiveness; there are other people on TV and Radio calling themselves Counsellors but they’ve not written to the Media about them”

“I am a pastoral counsellor… I have certificates, I have learnt and still learning. I was trained by a school… but the only challenge is that whatever training you have, it was made clear to us that our certificates cannot run circular. Within what I have learnt so far, I am a qualified pastoral counsellor not by their council (Psychological Council) …they cannot, till I die ban me in this country, never!,” he said in an interview on Peace FM’s ‘Entertainment Review’ show over the weekend.

He hinted that he will be organizing a press conference on UTV on Friday, September 27, to react to the letter by the Ghana Psychological Council.

The Ghana Psychological Council in a letter, addressed to all media houses, said George Lutterodt cannot hold himself as a Counsellor. The letter was in reaction to Mr. Lutterodt’s claim during an interview with The Ghana Report , that women who keep natural hair are depressed.

According to the Council, George Lutterodt has been in contravention of the Health Professions Regulatory Bodies Act, by calling and holding himself up as a counsellor as well as providing counselling services on radio and television.
