Corruption blocking Ghana’s path to progress – Togbe Afede
The Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV, has identified corruption as one of the biggest obstacles to Ghana’s development, stressing the urgent need for honesty and integrity in leadership.
Delivering his address at the 2025 Asogli Yam Festival in Ho on Sunday, October 5, Togbe Afede said corruption continues to derail national progress because leaders often abandon the path of truth and accountability.
“Corruption has been a stumbling block to our development. It stems from our failure to uphold truth and the highest standards of honesty,” he declared.
He urged both political and traditional leaders to embrace truthfulness as a foundation for building a just, peaceful, and prosperous nation.
“The theme for today’s durbar focuses on honesty, unity, peace, and prosperity. Only through unity and integrity can we achieve lasting progress for our people,” he emphasised.
