The ability to cook and clean should not be the yardstick for an ideal woman, rapper Okyeame Kwame has said.

For him, there are many other traits that make women outstanding and they should not be condemned for falling short in certain areas.

The sensational musician believes a lot of societal pressure is mounted on women unnecessarily and admitted guilt of contributing to the phenomenon.

“I think through my music, I might also have contributed to the pressure that women get because I’m also a key player in society,” he noted.

In his bid to ease off the pressure, the rapper is out with another a song titled, ‘Woman’ to uplift and celebrate females in society.

He featured  Sister Afia on the track.

“We put pressure on women, and when they break, when they crack, when they bleach their skin or abort their children or become depressed, our kids suffer. And we still blame them for that. So, for example, in a song like ‘Obaa Pa’, I talked about the ideal woman as being the one who cooks and cleans. And I’m not saying that cooking and cleaning is wrong, but that is not the only measure for what an ideal woman should be,” he clarified.
Stressing the need to encourage and celebrate female achievers, the Rap Dacta said, ” So, this society, I mean traditions, religion, culture, education, all of it find a way to contribute to the hegemonic nature of patriarchy. All these things find a way to position the woman as subservient to the man. I mean, this is true. If you have paid attention, you will see”.
“In this society, if a dad has the money to pay one person’s school fees, it will go to the boy, not the girl, even if the girl is more academically smarter than the boy. Because they will say that someone will come and marry the girl away,” Okyeame Kwame said in an interview on Asaase Radio on Wednesday, 24 August 2022.
