Concerned nurses condemn GRNMA Secretary’s remarks against Akandoh
The Concerned Nurses and Midwifery Association of Ghana has condemned the recent comments made by Dr. David Tenkorang-Twum, the General Secretary of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), regarding the Minister of Health.
In a statement released on August 21, 2025, the association characterised these remarks as “highly unacceptable and unbecoming of a leader of his stature”.
President Abena Serwaa Akoto stressed the need for Dr. Tenkorang-Twum to exercise greater discretion and professionalism in his communications.
“Leadership, especially at such a level, demands maturity, diplomacy, and the ability to express dissent without resorting to personal attacks or derogatory remarks,” the statement noted.
The association has called on Dr. Tenkorang-Twum to take time to reflect on his actions.
“We trust that going forward, Dr. Tenkorang-Twum will demonstrate better judgment in his engagements, so as to protect the image of nurses and midwives across the country,” the statement added.
Secretary Francis Asaba reinforced that the collective voice of the association must continue to command the respect it rightfully deserves.
