Education Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has stated categorically that Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) is not part of the new curriculum and has not been approved by cabinet.

The clarification follows massive public uproar against the introduction of CSE, with some Ghanaians calling on the education ministry to withdraw it.

Addressing the media on the on-going CSE debate on Tuesday, Dr. Opoku Prempeh explained that none of the various educational bodies have approved the implementation of CSE in all public schools.

“The new curriculum that was developed out of the framework produced by the Ghana Education Service (GES) and approved by cabinet for the use in the development of school curriculum,  does not include anything on Comprehensive Sexuality Education, ” he told journalists.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh also disclosed that none of teachers who went through the new curriculum training program,  received training on CSE.

“None of the 150,000 teachers trained for the new curriculum received any training on CSE and all the materials distributed to teachers had nothing on CSE but rather on how to engage the students on the new curriculum,” he noted.

The Minister therefore assured the genral public that the government is committed to the delivery of quality education and urged them to exercise restrain when contributing to issues of national interests.
