Chelsea Football Club head coach Enzo Maresca has given a grim update regarding the progress on Cole Palmer’s groin injury.
Speaking in a pre-game presser ahead of Chelsea’s English Premier League tie against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, October 18 at 11:30 GMT, Maresca stated that the creative player needs to be out for six more weeks.
England international Palmer, was scheduled to return to action later this month from a groin injury but in an attempt to protect him, Enzo Maresca relayed that the club will keep Palmer out for a few more weeks.
“I was wrong. Unfortunately, he needs to be out probably six more weeks. So, yes, this is the update. We try to protect Cole as much as we can. The most important thing is when he comes back, he is fully fit.”

“To replace Cole is difficult, because Cole is a very important player for us – probably one of the best players in the Premier League – so to replace that kind of player is always difficult” Maresca said according to Chelsea.

The update means that Palmer, who missed out on England’s qualification to the 2026 FIFA World Cup against Latvia and friendly game against Wales, will miss the next international games for England in November.
