Coach Nora trims Queens squad to 22 players for Japan friendly

Black Queens head coach Nora Hauptle has reduced her squad to 22 players for the international friendly against Japan next Saturday.

The Swiss Trainer initially named a 33-plauer squad for the encounter for a four-day training in Accra before the squad for trimmed to 22.

The selected players departed Accra on Sunday, July 7, 2024, to Japan for the friendly on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the Kanazawa Stadium.

Accompanying the team are 19 players along with members of the technical staff and management.

An additional four players are slated to join the squad, further bolstering the team’s roster for the upcoming match.

Preparations for the friendly have been intensive, with the Black Queens undergoing rigorous training in Accra over the past four days.

Coach Nora Häuptle aims to utilize this match as a crucial evaluation opportunity for her players, looking ahead to future competitions such as the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The fixture against Japan, to be held at the Kanazawa Go Go Curry Stadium, holds significant importance for Ghana as part of their buildup towards the Olympic Games in Paris, France.
