The Civil and Local Government Staff Association (CLOGSAG) has announced that its ongoing strike will continue, citing a lack of progress in discussions with the government over the concerns of its members.
According to the Association, recent engagements with government officials have not produced any concrete outcomes.
CLOGSAG says the government had earlier promised to present a document outlining a payment schedule to address the issues raised by the union, but that document has yet to be delivered.
Speaking after a meeting by the national executives of the Association, Executive Secretary Isaac Bampoe Addo said members had resolved to maintain the industrial action.
“After deliberations, it was agreed that the strike action should continue unabated,” Mr Bampoe Addo said.
Meanwhile, CLOGSAG has criticised a ruling by the National Labour Commission (NLC), describing the decision taken in their absence—as one that “smacks of bad faith.”
Officials of the Association insist they were not formally notified about the hearing that led to the ruling.
“We didn’t receive any letter from the Labour Commission, and even if you go into a meeting and a party is not there, you have to adjourn. So, what the Commission did in itself is illegal,” he said.
In a related development, some regional executives of CLOGSAG say they remain resolute and will not call off the strike until the government demonstrates a clear commitment to addressing their grievances.
