The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has declared a nationwide strike, effective Wednesday, July 3, 2024.
A statement dated July 2, 2024, and signed by the Executive Secretary, Isaac Bampoe Addo, said this action is due to the non-implementation of the new salary structure by the government.
The association has, on several occasions, withdrawn its services to demand improved conditions of service.
Each time, the government promised to meet their demands.
“We hereby DECLARE a Nationwide Strike with effect from Wednesday, 3RD July 2024. All staff of Civil Service and Local Government Service should stay away from work until further notice.
“Similarly, all CLOGSAG Secretariats and offices are to be shut down,” the statement said.

In a letter to serve notice to its members in June, the association said the proposed new salary structure approved by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), Ministry of Finance, and Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations is yet to be implemented after one and a half years since a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was reached.
As such, it said it has waited long enough and has no other option than to proceed on strike if the government fails to implement the new structure by the end of the month.
