Security analyst Col. Festus Aboagye has warned that public frustration and political discontent could soon lead to people storming the Jubilee House.
He attributes this to the government’s failure to address political violence and its poor management of governance issues.
In an interview on Saturday, December 14, Col. Aboagye stated, “Very soon, you will see people going to the Jubilee House because their government is in power.”
He explained that rising anger among citizens is being fuelled by unchecked political violence and the authorities’ ineffective actions.
Col. Aboagye pointed to the role of the Electoral Commission (EC) in exacerbating tensions, noting that while the EC is not directly responsible for security, its handling of the electoral system has contributed to incidents of violence.
“Even if they are not directly responsible for security, they bear some responsibility for the violence and the misuse of discretion,” he added.
He highlighted specific instances of political violence, including incidents in Nyankpala, Awutu Senya East, and Abuakwa North, where politicians and their bodyguards have resorted to violent measures.
One example he cited was Ernest Yeboah, a key figure in the 2019 Ayawaso West Wuogon violence, who has faced no repercussions and continues to engage in violent behaviour.
“This man hasn’t suffered any consequences and goes back from 2019 to 2024, returning to Abuakwa North to shoot again,” Col. Aboagye said on Joy News.
The security analyst also criticised the government for unconstitutional practices, including the recruitment of unvetted individuals into national security roles, which he said fosters impunity and worsens violence.
Col. Aboagye concluded by reiterating his warning, urging the government to take immediate and decisive action to address political violence and public grievances before the situation spirals out of control.
