A story-telling TV show synonymous with the 90’s ‘By the Fireside’ returns to the TV screens after a nostalgic absence.

The children’s’ hit TV series is set to be re-launched with the same cast and host, acting legend Grace Omaboe also known as ‘Maame Dokono’.

That cast were school children who sat down ‘by the fireside’ to hear misadventures of folklore legend Kweku Ananse.

Today, they are professionals in different fields who have re-united to do the first show in almost a generation.

The first show comes off Saturday 7th December 2019, at 5:30 pm at the e-Ananse Osu,in the BabyNest School, near the Hope City Church.

‘By the fireside’ explained the importance of good character and moral values to children. It dramatised truth-telling, honesty and hardwork.

Kweku Ananse, the antagonist of the show and fond of devious ways, is pointed out as the undesirable personality children should avoid.

That role was played by Isaac Herbert Ankomah who was then seven-years old. Herbert Ankomah reflecting on his prominent role in the series has admitted he got carried away by the early fame.

“I met with many experienced actors like Uncle David Dontoh, Late Kofi Mends and others so I thought I had it all. I was very disrespectful and didn’t pay attention to my studies and joined hooligans.

“I never stayed at home, I was always with friends doing bad stuffs like smoking, drinking” Ankomah, who says he has turned a new page in life, confessed on Accra-based radio Kasapa FM in 2016.

“I regret doing all that because it has ruined my entire life and the fame I got, I was inspired by Lord Kenya’s transformation, it helped me turn over a new leaf by giving my life to Christ.”
