Two persons have been killed following communal violence at Wenchike in the Chereponi district in the North East Region.
The unfortunate incident left five others injured, including a military officer.
The violence, which started Thursday morning, is said to have spread to six other regional districts.
Scores of houses and properties have reportedly been set ablaze, with residents fleeing for safety.
It is unclear what may have caused the violence, but reports suggest an age-long chieftaincy dispute.
The chaos reportedly started after the Paramount Chief for Chereponi attempted to enskin a chief for a community in the Wenchike area, but the chief of Wenchike, Naa Abuba, early Thursday morning enskinned a different person for the same community.
This sparked tension in the area resulting in gunshots.
Meanwhile, police have been deployed to the region to restore calm and peace.
