Chelsea’s Champions League hopes hanging by a thread after losing to Sheffield United
The result of Manchester City’s appeal against a two-year ban from the Champions League is suddenly of great interest to Chelsea.
The Blues went into Saturday evening’s Premier League clash with Sheffield United sitting third in the table. However, they could be fifth by the time they play Norwich on Tuesday, as a shock 3-0 loss at Bramall Lane means Frank Lampard’s side can now be overtaken by both Leicester City and Manchester United, who play on Sunday and Monday, respectively.
Sheffield United were good value for the victory and deserve plenty of plaudits for what was their first win over a top-five side this season.
