Charterhouse owes me a plaque, says Gasmilla

Ghanaian hiplife sensation Gasmilla alias International Fisherman has said that Chaterhouse – an event organising company – owes him a plaque for his hit song ‘Falefale’.

“I did another song called ‘Falefale’ with a project in which I cleaned five communities and fed over 5000 people, and received no award,” Gasmilla disclosed.

“I was nominated with one of my popular songs ‘Letter to the government’ for developmental song of the year and despite the fact that my song was a banger, they gave the award to Kwabena Kwabena because he had a project attached to it,” he added.

“So, I released ‘Falefale’ the next year but this time around I attached a project. They took that category off, which really depressed me. They later gave me a cheque on stage from the United Nations but did not include a plaque, so Chaterhouse actually owes me a plaque.”

“In 2018, I had five major hit songs, and my songs were played at weddings and parties, but no shows were booked for me. Everyone knew I was a star, but I got no money from all the songs.”

Depression
According to Gasmilla, he was depressed in 2017 because none of his hit songs made him any money.

“In 2017, something happened to me, and I became depressed because I was living in the future. I had the biggest song ever in Ghana in 2015 and was not recognised for it, and from 2016 to 2018, I had back-to-back hit songs, but the industry acted as if they didn’t see what I was doing.”

Gasmilla however added that he resolved to establish a new industry because he felt he was missing out.

“I actually travelled to the United States to shoot music videos in order to showcase my abilities and get people to look at me, but it appeared that the industry was not designed for me,” he said.
