The former Secretary to the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), Charles Bissue, has been declared wanted by the office of the Special Prosecutor.
A statement by the office said Mr. Bissue is wanted for corruption and corruption-related offences regarding the activities and expenditure of the dissolved IMCIM.
“This is particularly in respect of the seizure and management of excavators, machinery, road vehicles, and gold nuggets and the use of public office for profit,” the statement said.
This comes after the OSP obtained a court order to arrest Mr Bissue, following his failure to comply with previous invitations.
It will be recalled that Mr. Bissue has been challenging the investigation by the OSP in court.
He filed a suit at an Accra High Court to stop the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) from prosecuting him.
The suit comes after the OSP announced in its Half-Yearly Report that it had concluded investigations into corruption allegations against Mr. Bissue made by Tiger Eye P.I. and Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
The former secretary of the IMCIM insists an investigation cannot be launched when a copy of the petition forming the basis of the investigation has not been given to him.
He added that the OSP does not have the power to review an investigation done by the police, which has already cleared him of all corruption allegations.
Mr Bissue, therefore, wants the court to declare that the OSP cannot investigate him without investigating Tiger Eye P.I. and Anas, the investigative journalist.
He also wants an order perpetually restraining the OSP from investigating him over the same issue investigated by the police, unless the police refer the matter to the OSP.
